Botox and Dysport

What is Botox used for?

Botox is a cosmetic treatment used to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles by paralyzing the underlying muscles that cause wrinkles to form. The active ingredient in Botox is a type of neurotoxin protein known as botulinum toxin. When injected into the skin, the toxin blocks nerve signals that cause muscles to contract, thus preventing wrinkles from forming and reducing the appearance of existing wrinkles. Botox can also be used to treat a variety of conditions, including chronic migraines, excessive sweating, muscle spasms, and more.

What to expect after Botox Treatment

Following treatment with Botox, you may notice an improvement in skin tone, texture, and tone. The most visible improvement after treatment is a smoother appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. You may also experience some redness, swelling, and tenderness around the injection site. These side effects should dissipate in a day or two. Results from treatment with Botox can last for up to three to four months, and generally start to appear 1-2 weeks after treatment. While long-term results from Botox vary from individual to individual, re-treatment can be safely done to maintain results.
