Lip Enhancements

Lip fillers are minimally invasive treatments to plump and enhance the lips by the injection of hyaluronic acid fillers. The procedure is relatively short with minimal recovery time, making it an increasingly popular option for those looking to achieve full, voluminous lips. During the procedure, the hyaluronic acid filler is injected strategically into the lips to achieve desired results. To minimize bruising and swelling, ice and topical anesthetics are often applied before and after the injection. Results may be seen immediately, but the final look may take up to two weeks to appear. Lip fillers typically last 6-12 months before touch-ups are needed.

Depending on the desired look, more than one session of lip filler may be necessary to achieve the desired results. Many people find that multiple sessions of lip filler are necessary to get their desired outcome, as it can take a few treatments to build up to the desired results. It is important to discuss your expectations with your provider beforehand and to work together to determine how many sessions you may need.

After lip filler, patients can expect lips that are fuller, smoother, and more voluminous. The filler should have an immediate visible result, but it typically takes two to three days for the treatment’s final effect to take full shape. During this time period, patients may experience some mild swelling and redness in the treatment area, as well as light bruising. It is not uncommon for the lips to feel slightly tight or delicate for the first few days after treatment. It is best to avoid strenuous activity and refrain from touching the treatment area for about a week. Additionally, patients should avoid extreme temperatures, such as saunas or sunbathing, for at least 1-2 weeks. After the treatment site has had time to heal, patients should notice that their lips have a natural looking shape and fullness. Depending on the type of filler used, results can last 6-18 months.

• Avoid strenuous activities or exercise for 24 hours
• Avoid touching the treated area or applying direct pressure
• Ice the area if needed
• Do not apply makeup immediately post treatment
• Do not drink alcohol or take ibuprofen 72 hours after treatment
• Do not take aspirin within 24 hours
• Avoid direct sun exposure and UV exposure for 48 hours
• Follow any post-treatment instructions from your clinician

Small touch ups due to unevenness may be done at no cost between 2-4 weeks after initial lip filler visit at the discretion of your provider.  Touch ups after the 2-4 week time frame will require a fee.

• Pregnant or breastfeeding
• Allergies to ingredients in the filler
• History of severe allergic reaction in the past
• Medical history of skin scarring, pigmentation disorders, or immune system disorder
• Active skin infection, inflammation, or other skin conditions at the injection site
• Active blepharitis or conjunctivitis
• Known history of autoimmune disorders
• Bleeding disorders or taking anti-coagulants
• Recent surgery, facial trauma or existing afacial muscular paralysis
• Under the age of 18
